The Biographical Studies Unit of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Barcelona calls the first Vita Studens Prize for the best university autobiography. Its main objective is to promote autobiographical writing among young students in order to get closer to their experiences and future projects. The prize is part of the research project Vita Studens, funded by the General Directorate of Scientific and Technical Research (DGICYT). The first-prize winner will receive 1,000 euros and the second-prize winner will receive a pack of non-fiction books given by the bookshop Laie Llibreria.

The call is addressed to all university students (undergraduate and graduate) who are enrolled at any Spanish university in the current academic year. Autobiographical texts, written in Catalan or Spanish, are limited to 7,000 words. The jury will assess participantsʼ creativity, analysis skills and talent to tell their own story.

The jury is chaired by the writer Laura Freixas and composed by Joaquín Garrido, Manuel Alberca, Celia Fernández, members of the Biographical Studies Unit, and Anna Caballé, coordinator of the Unit. The winner is announced during the first week of December 2014.
