The Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus of the UB inaugurated the Sala Alella, a new facility of sensory analysis of food, within the latest edition of Expaliments. The room includes a kitchen and ten places to carry out individual experiments. This new facility was built and funded thanks to an agreement signed with the Alella Town Council, which directs the consortium DO Alella, and the company Flores Valles, which produces kitchen and laboratory equipments.

More than 1,350 people, mainly from Barcelona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet, participated in Expaliments 2014. The fair included a cooking competition addressed to secondary school and higher education students. Winners were Nerea Ramos, Aida Hidalgo and Robert Morales from the high school IES Torrent de les Bruixes in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, supervised by the teacher Nieves Garcia, and Adam Yani, Albert Monterde and Víctor Cano, students of the degree in Culinary and Gastronomic Sciences.
