The University of Barcelona and Montpellierʼs universities evaluate their collaboration agreement

On 9 July 2014, the rectors of the University of Barcelona (UB), the University of Montpellier and the Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3 signed the agreement Alliance Montpellier-Barcelona Plus (AMB+) with the aim to promote scientific collaborations, the mobility of students, lecturers and researchers, and the exchange of knowledge.

This week, the institutions meet in Barcelona in order to analyse the results achieved after one year of collaboration, improve joint projectsʼ visibility and quality, and strengthen academic cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

On 9 July 2014, the rectors of the University of Barcelona (UB), the University of Montpellier and the Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3 signed the agreement Alliance Montpellier-Barcelona Plus (AMB+) with the aim to promote scientific collaborations, the mobility of students, lecturers and researchers, and the exchange of knowledge.

This week, the institutions meet in Barcelona in order to analyse the results achieved after one year of collaboration, improve joint projectsʼ visibility and quality, and strengthen academic cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

On Wednesday 1 July, universitiesʼ representatives participate in several bilateral meetings to discuss issues such as university organization, water, biodiversity, human movement sciences, health, food sciences, law and political science, archaeology, historical heritage and culture, and languages and philology. Conclusions will be presented on 2 July, in the morning.

On 2 July, in the afternoon, an academic event chaired by the rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez; the president of the University of Montpellier, Philippe Augé, and the president of Paul Valéry University Montpellier 3, Anne Fraïsse, commemorates the first anniversary of AMB+. The event will be attended by French and Catalan institutional authorities. Ramon Torrent, professor of Political Economics and International Economic Law at the UB, and Hubert Peres, professor of Political Science at the University of Montpellier, pronounce a speech.

A guided tour to UB facilities closes the meeting on 3 July.
