The University of Barcelona (UB) is the top Spanish higher education centre and it occupies position 116 in the world ranking, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The ranking considers, among other aspects, the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members. The UB has improved its position; last year it occupied position 120. The ranking provides a classification of more than one thousand centres around the world out of 25,000 existing universities. Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are the top higher education centres.

The University of Barcelona (UB) is the top Spanish higher education centre and it occupies position 116 in the world ranking, according to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). The ranking considers, among other aspects, the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members. The UB has improved its position; last year it occupied position 120. The ranking provides a classification of more than one thousand centres around the world out of 25,000 existing universities. Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are the top higher education centres.

The CWUR World University Rankings uses eight indicators to classify universities: the quality of education, alumni employment (the number of a universityʼs alumni who have held CEO positions at the worldʼs top companies), the quality of faculty (number of academics who have won major international awards), publications, research influence, citations, broad impact and patents.

The University of Barcelona holds an outstanding position in publications, quotations and broad impact; it occupies positions 61, 93 and 83, respectively. The second Spanish university is the Completense University of Madrid (228), followed by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (241).
