The 2015 edition of the International Summer School of the UB was closed last week. The international summer courses of the University of Barcelona (UB) took place from 29 June to 24 July. The 2015 edition has proved the consolidation of the initiative as courses have been attended by 270 students from twenty-five countries, most European, but also from Kazakhstan, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Mexico, Russia, United States, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Brazil, Egypt, India and Canada.

The 2015 edition of the International Summer School of the UB was closed last week. The international summer courses of the University of Barcelona (UB) took place from 29 June to 24 July. The 2015 edition has proved the consolidation of the initiative as courses have been attended by 270 students from twenty-five countries, most European, but also from Kazakhstan, Malaysia, South Korea, China, Mexico, Russia, United States, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Brazil, Egypt, India and Canada.

 

The main objectives of the University of Barcelona International Summer School are to internationalize the University of Barcelona by attracting international students and to strengthen the relations with universities from all over the world.

 
A programme characterised by diversity

The 2015 edition included twelve courses divided into four subject areas: Health Sciences, Economic Sciences, Legal Sciences and Social Sciences. Some of the most popular courses were Management of Creativity in an Innovation Society, organised together with HEC Montréal to analyse in deep the creative process and innovation practices developed in industry, arts and science sectors; Barcelona: Gateway to the Mediterranean in the Early Modern Age (15th-19th Centuries), which described the important role played by the city of Barcelona in promoting social relations and economic and cultural exchanges from the Renaissance to the Enlightenment in the Mediterranean region; Data Analysis and Experimental Design with R and Evaluation of Public Health Programmes and Policies, focused on data analysis and public health evaluation, respectively. Like in previous editions, courses about international commerce have also interested many people: International Investment Law, BRICS and Trade/Investment Policymaking and International Economic Law and Policy (IELPO): Basic Elements.

Moreover, the 2015 edition of the University of Barcelona International Summer School was characterised by teachersʼ internationalization. Most teachers are members of UB teaching staff, but experts from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia also participated in this yearʼs edition.
