The program includes a look into sustainability thanks to Makea tu vida; a relation between anthropology and design by the Studio A piece of pie, and craftsmanship, with the contribution of Silvia Ventosa and Claudia Rieradevall. The session also gets close to other fields such as art management in advertising, with Pep Puertas, and illustration with Iván Bravo.

The conferences include the speeches of Mauricio OʼBrien, from Goteo cowdfunding platform, and Xavier Testar, from the Entrepreneur Institute of Barcelona. There will also be workshops offering students a complimentary training, and a relax area (annexed) for design-related contests.

Raquel Pelta, coordinator of the session, stresses the high participation from the students to set the event up. “Nexus is a great example of collaboration itself and it shows a great level of autonomy from our students, which are values public universities promote”, she says.

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona has offered Design studies since more than three decades time. Some distinguished designers and design researchers have studied here during all these now. The Department of Design and Image (currently Department of Visual Arts and Design) is pioneer in the organization of PhD programs and offers them since 1994. With Nexus, the Department and the Faculty of Fine Arts seek to bring closer future designers to the know-how and experiences of the great professionals.
