The lecturer of the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona, Eduard Sanahuja, has been awarded in the Barcelona Floral Games 2016 with the poems Teories del no. The award ceremony is today May 4, coinciding with the Barcelona Poetry Week. Sanahuja’s work will be published by Edicions de 1984.

According to the words of the President of the jury, Antoni Vidal Ferrando, Teories del no “is a compact, hard, elaborated work, with a meticulous structure with which the author builds an authentic philosophic, aesthetic and moral crisscross”. “This award means a new and certain honour to his already long and consolidated poetry career”, says Joan Perera, lecturer at the UB and colleague of Sanahuja.

Eduard Sanahuja (Barcelona, 1953) is a degree holder in Spanish Philology and Catalan Philology at the University of Barcelona. He is currently a tenured university lecturer at the Department of Teacher Training in Language and Literature of this university.

Regarding poetry, he has published El gos del Galiot (1981); Doble joc (1988); En defensa pròpia (1994); Compàs d’espera (2006); El llançador d’espases (2013); and the anthology Sang barata (2015). It has been included in Sol de sal. La nova poesia catalana, Antologia 1976-2001 (2001) and in 20 del XX. Poetas catalanes (2013). As a translator he has translated into Catalan a part of Blaise Cenrars’ work Prosa del Transsiberià (1992) and Capsa d’escats (2008) by the Aragonese poet Javier Carnicer.

Sanahuja was awarded with Viola d’Or i Argent in the Barcelona Floral Games in 1985 for his recollection Hora baixa; the poetry award Raimundo Ramírez de Anton in 2001 for Cruels àngels de la mort; the poetry award Vicent Andrés Estellés de Burjassot in 2005 for Compàs d’espera and the award Maria Mercè Marçal in 2013 for El llançador d’espases.
