The exhibition «Escultures sonores Baschet», commissioned by the researchers of the University of Barcelona Magda Polo and Martí Ruiz, can be visited at the Centre Cívic in Trinitat Vella until January 9.

The exhibition, driven by the consolidated Research Group Barcelona: Recerca, Art i Creació (BRAC), of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Humanities and Social Sciences Park of the university, is built by original pieces that present a fabulous selection of research in applied acoustics and developed by the Baschet brothers since the fifties. These are works that explore the relation between shapes and materials to create new sounds, constituting interactive objects so that everyone can experiment with them with no previous experience required.

François and Bernard Baschet are considered to be the fathers of sounding sculptures and their work comes from a vision that puts together art and science, intuition and methods; an essential reference for the study and development of relations between shape, materials and sound.  Willing to bring advanced music sounds to society in a dynamic way, Baschet brothers were pioneers in proposing participating exhibitions where visitors are not only spectators but can also become involved in the artistic action: a work open to anyone, willing to be re-discovered and re-interpreted.

The group wants to continue the disseminating task of the Baschet brothers, who aimed to make inclusive and society-committing exhibitions, inviting visitors to play and experiment on their own.
