The elections, which called 62.998 people from different university groups to participate, took place with no incidents. At the end of the day, 8.671 people had voted, corresponding to the 13,76% of the total (lower participation than the first roundʼs, which was of 16,10%). Out of these votes, 8.327 were for the candidates, 195 blank and 149 spoiled.

This is the fourth time, according to the current regulation, that the university community elects their rector through direct election and universal suffrage. The vote is weighted and its value depends on each university collective, according to the Statute of the University of Barcelona. Permanent professors (2.009 people) compute 51% of the total; other teaching and research staff (4.074 people), 9%; students (54.645 people), 30%; and administrative and service staff (2.270 people), 10%.
