The Rector of the University of Barcelona, Dídac Ramírez, had a meeting with two representatives of the Trans community of the University of Barcelona, with the aim of improving equality measures within the institution.

Diego Marchante, adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Héver Márquez, student of the centre, proposed the Procedure for the name change in transsexual and transgender people of the UB. The initiative, which is supported by the Equality Unit, wants to help members who are going through a sex reassignment to change their names according to their physical appearance.

According to the Law 3/2007, the required time allowance to change someoneʼs name is that of two years. The expected approval of this procedure for the next Governing Council, which will take place in September, they will normalize the use of an assumed name for anyone who is interested.
