The University of Barcelona wins the 1st Academic Debate Tournament of the University of Murcia

The University of Barcelona has been proclaimed winner of the 1st Academic Debate Tournament of the University of Murcia. The competition, celebrated during the 25th and 26th of November, gathered more than 70 students from Spanish universities. “Would be justified to ban the use of burkini, and analogous elements, in public spaces?” was the topic for the debate.

The team of the Debate Association of the University of Barcelona (ADUB) got to the finals without any lost debate, now debating against Club Debate Compostela. The former defended a position in favour of the subject and the latter, an opposing position. The team of the University of Barcelona was captained by Georgina Rodríguez, graduated in History and student of the master degree in Cultural Heritage Management and Museology, who was recognized as the best refuter, best orator in the finals and best orator of the tournament. Her teammates were Joan Torras Solanes, student of 4th year in Business Administration and Management and 1st year in Political and Administrative Sciences; Alba Rius, student of dual-degree in Law and Business Administration and Management, and Antonio Torregrosa, student of 3rd year in Political and Administration Sciences and Law.
