Montserrat Busquets Surribas, lecturer from the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, has been awarded with the Infermeria i Societat 2016 Award “A prop teu”, for her contribution to the nursing career.

Montserrat Busquets Surribas, lecturer from the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, has been awarded with the Infermeria i Societat 2016 Award “A prop teu”, for her contribution to the nursing career.

This award, the highest award given by Infermeria i Societat Foundation, is dedicated to those people or institutions that make the development of nursing possible and contribute to revalue this career.

Montserrat Busquets is a nurse, graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology, and holds a master degree in Bioethics and Law. She has worked in education since 1983, and has been tenured lecturer of Ethics and Professional Legislation at the University School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB since 1990. She was Secretary-Academic of the School of Nursing from 1993 to 1996 and editor in chief of the journal Enfermería Clínica between 1991 and 2003. She is now chairwoman of the Deontology Commission of the Barcelona School of Nursing and chairwoman of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia, representing the Council of Catalan Schools of Nursing. She is member of the Committee of Víctor Grifols i Lucas Foundation, member of the Ethics Committee of Clinical Research of the Center of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB) and Head of the postgraduate studies on Nursing on Palliative Care of the University of Barcelona and the Catalan Institute of Oncology.
