The 80% of the Medicine graduates from the UB got a place in the last call for MIR

UB students of the promotion 2010-2016 got outstanding results in the MIR (resident clinician) examination. In this last call, a total of 2011 students of Medicine of the UB -out of the 252 graduates in 2016- got a place to get to the medical specialization, being it the 80 % of the total amount of students.

UB students of the promotion 2010-2016 got outstanding results in the MIR (resident clinician) examination. In this last call, a total of 2011 students of Medicine of the UB -out of the 252 graduates in 2016- got a place to get to the medical specialization, being it the 80 % of the total amount of students.

According to Francesc Cardellach, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB, “these excellent results confirm that not only the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science is getting the top positions in Europe and worldwide lists each year regarding academic performance and biomedical research activity, but also that the quality, dedication and professional efficiency of the students to be outstanding”.

Out of all the students, eleven are listed among the top hundred, 84 among the first thousand, and 154 students among the first 3.000. A 84% of the UB students who got a MIR place chose their residency to take place in hospitals and primary care centers in Catalonia. The other 16% chose to do it in other autonomous communities; most of them chose the Balearic Islands.

Regarding the specialties, the most demanded ones were: Family and Community Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine and General and Gastroenterological Surgery. The five hospitals that students chose the most were the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the Vall dʼHebron University Hospital, the Bellvitge University Hospital, Germans Trias Hospital, and the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.

 

Good results in the Internal Nursing Resident 2017

Regarding the selection examination for EIR (internal nursing resident), 196 out of the 211 students who took the exam passed the cutoff mark, that is, a 93%. These results are in line with the ones got by the School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB, which has been listed among the top 100 worldwide universities over the last years in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
