On Wednesday June 14, the Faculty of Law is holding a presentation of the project on the Human-Centered Business Model. This project is promoted by several entities, among which are The World Bank and the European Group of Public Law, with the participation of TransJus Research Institute of the University of Barcelona. Representatives of different public and private entities will take part in the event, which takes place after a first meeting in Washington and will continue with other meetings in Paris and Brussels. Its objective is to gather support for this initiative, which aims to promote an economic sustainable business model, respecting the human rights, the environment and the local communities.

The session at the Faculty of Law includes the participation of the representative of the World Bank, Marco Nicoli, who will explain how the human-centered business model completes -with other additional parameters- the ordinary assessment methods for profitability. It aims to unify, harmonize and spread behavior codes in the business world, which are already developed within the framework, for instance, of the OECD and the United Nations, in relation to the economics of the Economy for the Common Good or the concept of corporate social responsibility. The meeting in Barcelona will count with the attendance of Alberto Mazzoni, president of UNIDROIT (The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law).

The human-centered business model, promoted by Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development, from the World Bank, covers three areas: social sustainability, environmental and ethical sustainability, and it structured around six axes. The first one, called governing principles, is led by TransJus Institute and coordinated by one of its members, Marta Ortega, professor of Public International Law at the UB and member of the Institute. The other focuses are referred to the legal framework and corporative government; financial theme; fiscal; acquisition (contracting and competency), and support to capacity creation and counselors (on technical support systems).
