Editions and Publications of the University of Barcelona will be present in the Catalan Book Week (September 8-17 in avinguda de la Catedral de Barcelona), to show the latest publications and offer a public reading of some of their works on science and humanities

On September 14, from 11 a.m. to 2.30 p.m, a crosschecking public reading by Editions and Publications of the University of Barcelona will take place. It will cover both the fields on sciences and humanities, with the aim of promoting the great potential of university lecturers. There will be a total of 40 authors, from forty faculties -from Chemistry to Philosophy, History of Art and Medicine-, who will read in pairs so that a lecturer will read a 3-minute extract from the other lecturerʼs book, and then the following lecturer will do the same. The books of the participants will have a place in the stand of Editions and Publications of the UB, number 40-41. The activity has the support of the Vice-Rector for Outreach and Internationalization. The selected books for the readings and their authors can be consulted here.

Also, Editions and Publications of the UB will present three new works in the events of the Week: La forja genètica dʼEuropa, La prosa de Màrius Torres and De poesia. Arxius, poètiques i recepcions.

Editions and Publications of the UB will be present in the stands 40-41 in the Catalan Book Week, with more than eighty titles in their collection and a thousand books in total, among which the following stand out: Escrits sobre art, by Alexandre de Riquer, edited by Eliseu Trenc; Llegir Ramon Llull, by Joan Santanach i Suñol; Sobre mentides i contes de fades, by Meritxell Simó, and Sant Climent de Taüll, la recerca versus la icona by Milagros Guardia.

During ten days, the area of the cathedral will be the City of Reads, with avenues and squares, wooden houses and more than 150 exhibitors, among publishing houses, bookstores, institutions and associations of editors. Each square will have a stage, where the presentations, debates, readings, and other activities will take place. There will also be some spaces to rest and read, apart from reading routes to guide the visitors. The edition of 2016 reached the record of exhibitors, and the most important challenge for this edition is to launch a process to transform the Catalan Book Week in a professional Book Fair without losing the festive essence of culture.

Since the Catalan Book Week was set in the avenue of the Cathedral of Barcelona in 2012, its figures have improved each year. Last yearʼs edition raised numbers to 42,6% and more than 22.300 copies of magazines and books were sold.
