Confucius institutes aim to promote Chinese language, its academic exchange and to disseminate the culture of the Asian country. Apart from the regulated language course offerings, training activities also cover teacher training and the organization of international competitions and language camps in China. The academic exchange is specially based on study grants assigned to different fields: translation and interpreting, arts and music, history and anthropology, as well as economics, medicine and urbanism. Civic outreach ranges from participation in popular Chinese culture contests (Lunar New Year; Dragon Boat Festival, etc.) to cycles of gastronomy, music and cinema.
