The University of Barcelona is once more listed on top in Spain according to Webometrics

The University of Barcelona holds the top position in Spain in the Ranking Web of Universities, Webometrics, like in the previous edition of the ranking. Moreover, the UB, has improved 14 positions and holds the 34th position in Europe and the 138th at a global scale. This list, created by the Cibermetrics Lab, from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), analyses the websites of more than 21,000 universities worldwide according to their online presence and impact. The objective is for these web indicators to assess the global activity of the institutions.

The University of Barcelona holds the top position in Spain in the Ranking Web of Universities, Webometrics, like in the previous edition of the ranking. Moreover, the UB, has improved 14 positions and holds the 34th position in Europe and the 138th at a global scale. This list, created by the Cibermetrics Lab, from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), analyses the websites of more than 21,000 universities worldwide according to their online presence and impact. The objective is for these web indicators to assess the global activity of the institutions.

The five leading positions in the ranking regarding Spain are filled by the Complutense University of Madrid, University of Valencia, University of Granada and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Regarding indicators, the University of Barcelona holds the 43rd position in presence; 247th in impact, 202nd in openness, and the 110th in excellence.

Regarding impact, Webometrics analyses all the incoming trunks from third parties the website domain receives, both academic and non-academic. The presence accounts for the total amount of hosted websites in the main web of the University, obtained from the biggest online search engine, Google. Openness analyses the global effort to create research institutional repositories. Last, excellence accounts for the academic studies published in high impact international journals.
