On January 23, the UIMIR program for 2018 was presented and an evaluation of the results in 2017 was also presented. Among this yearʼs courses there are two responding the new UIMIR proposals: a workshop on conservationist photography aimed at the preservation and awareness of biodiversity, and the course “Tourism in the Islands seen through photography, cinema and architecture”.

Heritage, in its full sense, is present in three courses. Regarding the first one, there is a course on documentary heritage, focused on improving the file and library management. The second course will debate on public and private management regarding archaeological heritage. Last, the third course analyses the heritage in terms of tourism and media. In the field of health, there is a course on learning disorders, which is a follow-up from the one taught in 2017. Moreover, there is a course on assertiveness, relaxation and conflict resolution, and a practical one on the creation and sharing of video content with phones and tablets.

Last year, UIMIR doubled its number of registered students compared to the previous year. In particular, a total of 264 students participated in the courses, an average of 38 people per course.

The themes chosen at UIMIR are selected among numerous proposals from the academic field and civil society in Menorca, as well as the UIMIR Academic Committee, which, apart from being integrated by the UB, has also representatives from the City Council of Maó, the Island Council of Menora, Institut Menorquí dʼEstudis, the University of Balearic Islands, and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
