Water is Life, an acrylic-based work combining painting and textures and relief elements with silk paper, is the title of the artistic work by Kelly Arrontes, unveiled on April 11 in the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). The wall painting, which covers more than 125 meters, is decorating the walls of the corridors of the Cluster I and Cluster II buildings, a connection point for business laboratories and public research centers.

Participants in the ceremony, chaired by the rector of the UB, Joan Elias,  were Ignasi Belda, director of PCB; the author of the painting, Kelly Arontes, and Albert Martínez Lacambra, general manager of Agbar, among other institutional representatives.

The painter Kelly Arrontes, with only 9 % of vision, is legally blind and member of ONCE. Her project, Water is Life, won an open and anonymous artistic intervention contest in PCB. This work, which counts on the support of Agbar, has water as its core element and is loyal to the abstract expressionism style of the artist.

“There is a water film between the real world and min. That is why I chose this element as the central theme of the painting. I express what I see. Depending on my mood, the visual acuity fluctuates; I can see better on some days than others. The four parts of the painting represent the symbiosis between the different physicochemical states of water and my own”, says Arrontes.

To work on the wall painting, Kelly Arrontes counted on the collaboration of the painter Leix Urbano, who is member of the Artistes Diversos entity, who work for the social and labour integration of disabled people through art.
