Antoni Gaudí Chair and The Gaudí Research Institute are organizing today, May 10, the 1st research session on Antoni Gaudí. During this meeting, which is held at the Faculty of Philology (Gran Via, 585), postgraduate students of the UB will talk about their research on the Catalan architect and his works. The director of the Gaudí Chair, Adolfo Sotelo, says this activity will analyse this authorʼs work and figure “from a polyhedral horizon”, with views from different disciplines.

The meeting,  opened by the rector of the UB, Joan Elias, together with the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Javier Velaza, started with a conference by Manuel Medarde titled “The Gaudí Research Institute: Nous Horitzons dʼInvestigació”. Afterwards, there will be a first session with the participation of Ester Gallegos, who will talk about recovering the Linder file; Maria Garganté, on “Can Soler de la Torre: una masia al servei de Gaudí”; and Marta Jané ith “La casa del pintor Aleix Clapés: història dʼuna obra oblidada de Gaudí”. The second session will bring the conferences of Valentina Consonni (“La relació entre el pensament estètic de Plató i la casa Batlló dʼAntoni Gaudí”); Alba Martínez with “El paper de lʼespectador: visió i experiència de lʼobra artística dʼAntoni Gaudi”, and Paula Sánchez and Lucía Font with “Gaudí i les avantguardes: una història de reconeixement exterior”. There will be a colloquium and a conference by the UB Professor Lourdes Cirlot on “Els gravats en homenatge a Gaudí de Joan Miró”.

Professor Sotelo notes that the objective of this meeting organized by the chair is to start a dialogue among different research fields. The importance in Gaudí and the fact that his figure covers different disciplines has to make this dialogue possible, a dialogue through which new research paths can be created.
