The UB took part in the second conference of the university alliance Montpellier-Barcelona Plus (AMB+), formed by the University of Montpellier, Paul Valéry University Montpellier III, and the University of Barcelona. The conference, which was held on July 3 and 4 in Montpellier, consisted on three workshops and three plenary sessions on topics such as dissemination in the field of humanities and research on environmental sciences in the Mediterranean area, among other topics. The purpose of this meeting to work on several future research and teaching projects, like it happened in the previous first AMB+ conference, held at the UB in 2015.

The conference in Montpellier, which gathered around 150 attendants -academicians, technicians and managers-, encourage new joint collaboration teams on research, master degrees and doctoral studies. Some of the target topics in the workshops were memory policies, process of urbanization in western Mediterranean, water-related risks (such as droughts and floods), biodiversity in the Mediterranean, food safety, and several aspects related to university management.

Moreover, as part of the conference, the UB signed an agreement with the University of Montpellier, representative of the I-SITE MUSE consortium, dedicated to intensive research on fields such as agriculture, environment and health. This agreement with I-SITE MUSE covers cooperation areas such as the organization of joint educational and research projects, researcher exchange, joint organization of seminars, symposiums and conferences, joint publication and implementation of research results, etc. The specific ways of this collaboration range from sharing resources to exchanging information and setting incentives to design or implement joint projects.
