The UB is the nineteenth university regarding teaching according to the new Europe Teaching Rankings published by the British journal The Times Higher Education (THE), focused on the teaching activity of lecturers.

The UB is the nineteenth university regarding teaching according to the new Europe Teaching Rankings published by the British journal The Times Higher Education (THE), focused on the teaching activity of lecturers.

The first positions of the rankings are held by the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and the Sorbonne University. The University of Barcelona is the top Catalan university in the ranking, followed by UAB, which holds the twentieth position. It is preceded by the University of Navarra, private institution, which holds the eighth position.


Europe Teaching Rankings use thirteen individual indicators on the performance of the institutions. These indicators are grouped in four key areas: Engagement -does the institution have the capacity to effectively deliver teaching?, Outcomes -does the institution generate appropriate outputs for students?, Environment - is the teaching and learning environment inclusive? More than 30,000 students were surveyed with questions such as whether the institution promotes critical thinking, and on the interaction with lecturers, the quality of services and the opportunities of developing skills that can be useful in the future.
