Editions and Publications of the University of Barcelona takes part in the Catalan Book Week (from September 7 to 16, in avinguda de la Catedral de Barcelona, stands 44-45), where they will show the new published works.

Editions and Publications of the UB presents three new works within the activities of this week: on Monday September 10, at 5.45 p.m., La Roma del segle IX, by Carles Mancho, a new volume of the series Lliçons / Lessons by the Institute for Research of Medieval Cultures (IRCVM), in which the author guides us through a journey around the Medieval Rome; on September 12, at 5.30 p.m., Poètiques de la natura, by Teresa-M. Sala and Irene Gras Valero (coord.), second llibre in the collection Quaderns dʼArt i Natura, from the Research Group on History of Art and Contemporary Design (GRACMON), a series of texts in which the authors think on the condition of nature as a source of artistic inspiration, and on September 13, at 5.30 p.m., Construint vincles entre universitat i societat, by Anna Escofet and M. Teresa Fuertes (coord.), which gathers twenty service-learning experiences in Catalan universities.

Apart from the mentioned books, Editions and Publications of the UB also offered three new titles in the stand: Escriure a lʼEdat Mitjana (collection Lliçons / Lessons), by Daniel Piñol-Alabart, about the production and uses of the texts during medieval times regarding power, management and memory; El primer Romanticisme alemany (collection Filosofia UB), by Robert Caner-Liese, showing Schlegelʼs and Novalisʼ thinking as a response to Kantian philosophy and as a proposal of a new art to contribute to revolutionary movements of that time, and El vessant seriós i tràgic de Woody Allen (collection Filologia UB), by Pau Gilabert, in which, with the analysis of six paradigmatic films by the New Yorker, the Greek tragedy is plausible in his thinking.

This 36th edition of the Catalan Book Week, which has become one of the most important cultural events of the country, shows the richness and diversity within Catalan editions as well as their economic potential, favouring direct contact between book sellers, editors and readers, and presenting new books and collections. During ten days, the surroundings of the cathedral become the City of Reading, with avenues and squares, wooden houses and more than 150 exhibitors, among editorials, book stores, institutions and editor societies. Each square holds presentations, debates, workshops and readings, among other activities. But there are other spaces to read in silence. The biggest challenge for this edition is to consolidate the transformation from this week into a professional book fair without losing its essence of fair and culture festival.

Since it was set in the avenue of the Cathedral of Barcelona in 2012, the Catalan Book Week has improved its sales year after year.
