The University of Barcelona is the second institution in Spain with a higher rate of employability regarding its graduates, holding the 82nd position worldwide in this field, after the University of Navarra, which is listed in the 61st position. This is the main conclusion of the 2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings, published today by Quacquarelli Symonds, which lists 500 university centers according to employability. This is the third edition of this ranking, which has increased by 10 % the amount of analysed institutions regarding those in 2018 and has published the results of the top 500 ones.

Specifically, the University of Barcelona is listed in the rank 51-100 worldwide, with a total score of 61.3 in employability. The ranking has five indicators: Employer reputation (30 %), measuring the opinion of more than 37,000 business leaders worldwide on what universities train the best professionals; Partnership with employers per Faculty (25 %), which analyses which universities are collaborating successfully with global companies; Alumni outcomes (25 %), which looks at the development of graduates during their professional career; Employer-student connections (10 %), which evaluates the amount of present companies in the campuses and which offer opportunities to students, and Graduate employment rate (10 %), which analyses how successful universities are when promoting employment (full or part time employment for graduates who find a job up to twelve months after graduating).

The University of Barcelona stands out in university-company collaboration, with a global score of 98.6 %, and the rate of graduate employment, with a 89.6 %.

The list is led byt the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of California Los Angeles, and Harvard, all of them in the United States.

The 2019 QS Graduate Employability Rankings have analysed eighteen Spanish universities and 667 worldwide. The aim of this list is to provide an answer to questions on the reputation of universities among companies, the bonds between universities and companies and the interest of companies in graduates from a certain university. To do so, QS considered the responses from over 40,000 employers and analysed 140,000 employers’ connections with graduates.
