Hypatia of Alexandria, Henrietta Swan-Leavitt, Agnes Pockels, Rosalind Franklin, Lise Meitner and Hedy Lamarr are the six scientists to be painted by a group of students of the faculties of Physics and Chemistry of the UB. These will be drawn during October 11 as part of the activity “Pintem la Facultat” (Letʼs paint the Faculty).

This initiative appeared two years ago when a student suggested turning the Solar Atrium a bit more “welcoming”, a place for the students of both faculties to spend their spare time. On Thursday, this idea will turn into a collaborative activity in which every student will paint something in the final wall, created by the silhouette of these distinguished women scientists.

The selection and the design of the represented figures -chosen due their decisive contributions to the world of science- have been carried out by a commission in collaboration with the student collective.

Entity fair

At the same time, the Entity Fair will take place, to share the activity of several student groups of both faculties with the new students in order to boost the interest of potential new associates.

Among the fifteen associations that will take place in the fair is Planta 9, which works on an “informal” magazine for the Faculty of Physics, the theater group Shakespin, the choirs Lolis and Argentum, the dance association Swintropia, and the Role and Magic Club.
