Telegram: a new communication tool for PDI in the University of Barcelona
Telegram has become one of the most used messaging apps over the last years by many companies and institutions for their internal communication. With more than a hundred million users worldwide, Telegram offers a fast and safe way of communication to share information of interest among the staff through their personal and professional devices.
The University of Barcelona launched a channel for corporative communication in this social network in November 2017. Now, the institution decided to create a new one specifically aimed at the teaching and research staff (PDI). Any PDI member of the UB can access this channel and join. Therefore, s/he will receive information related to new offerings and calls for new teaching positions, research grants, international mobility, training grants and other issues of interest.

To join the PDI Telegram channel of the University of Barcelona, the following steps are required:
1 Download Telegram, available for iOS and Android.
2 Enter the channel of Teaching and research staff of the UB via this link and click on “follow”.
Doing so, the user will be available to receive all the information the UB shares through this channel.
New Facebook group
The University of Barcelona also launches a group for the Teaching and research group in its Facebook corporative page, which has the highest number of followers in Spain within the field of education. This group is also aimed at the PDI of the UB, through which information of interest will be shared among the teaching staff of the University. In order to join this group, …
With this, the UB wants to improve its internal communication among its collectives and to make information transmission more efficient for the PDI collective. Both channels will be jointly managed by the Vice-Rectorʼs Office for Teaching and Research Staff and the Communication Unit.
Another Telegram channel aimed at the Administration and Services staff is expected to be created over the upcoming months.
