The lecturer from the Department of Catalan Philology and General Linguistics of the University of Barcelona will give the conference “Llengua i identitat” in the fourth debate of #DebatsUB: Catalunya i Espanya, to take place on Thursday, November 22, at 6.30 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the Historical Building. There will be a roundtable with lecturer Albert Branchadell, from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, lecturer Maria Teresa Cabré i Castellví, from Pompeu Fabra University, and lecturer Francesc Xavier Vila, from the University of Barcelona. The activity will be chaired by Magí Campis, journalist in La Vanguardia and editor of its stylebook. The activity will be streamed in the UB Youtube channel and on Facebook, and will count on the participation of the vice-rector for Equal Opportunities and Social Action, Maite Vilalta.

So far, the other meetings from #DebatsUB have taken place with the participation of the philosopher Daniel Innerarity; the first conference was given by Jordi Casassas, professor of Contemporary History; the second by Antoni Castells, professor of Economy at the UB and former counsellor of Economy and Finance at the Catalan Government, and the third, by Antoni Bayona, lecturer of Administrative Law at UPC and former attorney in the Catalan Parliament. After this Tursdayʼs session, there will still be two more debates, which will treat the Catalan conflict from different perspectives:

• “El model dʼescola catalana”, conference by lecturer Joan Mateo, from the Department of Methods of Research of the UB. December 13, 2018, at 6.30 p.m. in the Historical Building.

• “La política: lʼespai de resolució dels conflictes”, conference by the emeritus lecturer of Political and Administration Sceince at UAB, Josep Maria Vallès. January 17, 2019, in the Historical Building.

Each session will offer a conference given by a distinguished academician followed by a roundtable on the same topic. Debates and interventions will be published in several volumes in a new collection by Editions and Publications of the UB, named Debats UB.
