The 12th Contest FotoNAT-UB has awarded the works Carregant el futur and El fantasma del bosc, by Joan de la Malla and Oriol Massana –former students of the wildlife photography courses of the Animal Biodiversity Resource Center of the UB (CRBA) with the first prize under the category of Nature and Zoology.

 

In the Nature category, the new edition of the contest on wildlife photography has awarded Jordi Cañizares, student of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science (second prize, En època de dinosaurs); David Torrents, former student of CRBA courses (honourable mention, Formes del negre); Jordi Armengol, former student of CRBA courses (honourable mention, A l’ombra dels gegants); Raquel Soley, former student of CRBA courses (honourable mention, Visc al gel), and Pepe Bosch, member of PDI at the Faculty of Physics (honourable mention, Veïns galàctics).


In Zoology, the awardees were Ada Farrés, former student of CRBA courses (second prize, Això és pura vida); Óscar Fernández, student of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology (honourable mention, Hora de dinar); David Torrents, former student of CRBA (honourable mention, Tot el temps del món); Marc Domènech, PhD student at the Faculty of Biology (honourable mention, Brillant amb llum pròpia), and Òscar Fernàndez, student of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology (honourable mention, Models naturals).

 

The new edition of the fotoNAT-UB contest has gathered a total of 147 participants and 283 photography works (110 in the category of Nature and 173 in Zoology).

 

The prizes were awarded on Tuesday, December 18, in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Biology, in a ceremony presided by the acting dean of the Faculty of Biology, Teresa Sauras, and the director of CRBA, the lecturer Antoni Serra. Like in previous editions, the awarded and finalist photographs are now exhibited at the headquarters of CRBA, at the Faculty of Biology, and will be available in the website of the center.
