On Tuesday, June 12, the Paranimph of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (Clinic Campus) paid homage to Ciril Rozman, emeritus professor of Medicine and expert on internal medicine and haematology, for his dedication during more than sixty years in Hospital Clínic.

The rector of the University of Barcelona, Joan Elias, attended the activity. Other participants were Xavier Pomés, president of the Governing Council of Hospital Clínic, and the UB lecturers Josep Maria Campistol, director-general of the Hospital; Francesc Cardellach, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; Antoni Castells, medical director in Hospital Clínic, and Elias Campo, director of Research and Innovation in the Hospital and IDIBAPS. All of them highlighted Rozmanʼs commitment to the Hospital and expressed their gratitude regarding the big task he conducted over the years at the hospital.

During the ceremony, the emeritus professor received the highest honor of the Hospital Clinic, the institutionʼs Gold Medal, and Evarist Feliu, head of the Haematology Services of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, together with Álvaro Urbano, director of the Clinic Institute of Haematological and Oncological Diseases (ICMHO), highlighted Rozmanʼs task as lecturer and haematologist. Moreover, the tenor Josep Carreras, in a video, praised the figure of Ciril Rozman and thanked his commitment and professionalism during his years in Hospital Clínic.

Rozman thanked the organization of the ceremony and defined the Hospital Clínic as “his second homeland”. Ciril Rozman started working at Hospital Clínic in 1951 and, among other projects, designed the network of bone marrow donors. He is also co-author of one of the main manuals of internal medicine in Spain and Latin America, Medicina interna, a large work carried out together with Pere Farreras. In 2017, Professor Rozman donated the complete collection of this work to the CRAI Library, which consists of eighteen editions of Medicina interna in Spanish and one in Catalan, and three editions in German of Alexander von Domarusʼ Grundriss der inneren Medizin, a work that favoured the appearance of Rozman and Farrerasʼ manual.
