The University of Barcelona, through the Vice-Rectorʼs Office for Arts, Culture and Heritage, held on Thursday June 28, a meeting on cultural policy which gathered around twenty representatives from Spanish public universities. The most highlighted issue of the meeting was the creation of a work group within the frame of CRUE (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities) to analyse and give visibility to all the cultural aspects that affect the universiteis. The meeting closed while talking about the commitment to call for a second meeting regarding the specific problem of the architectural, artistic and scientific university heritage, which is extremely important in Spain but not that well preserved, recognized nor talked about.

This first meeting, which coincides with the celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, recovered the Salamanca Statement from January 2008, which called for a coordinated action of the universities and CRUE to get the recognition of the cultural university heritage and the contribution of the State and the autonomous communities t its conservation and dissemination.
