On October 5, the Faculty of Geography and History paid homage to Jordi Casassas, professor of Contemporary History at the UB. Attendants in the ceremony were Ricardo Piqueras, dean of the Faculty of Geography and History, Carles Santacana, director of the Department of History and Archaeology, Joseba Agirreazkuenaga (University of the Basque Country), Paul Aubert (Aix-Marseille University), Elena Hernández (Complutense University of Madrid), Patrizio Rigobon (CaʼFoscari University of Venice), and Sebastià Serra, from the University of the Balearic Islands.

On October 5, the Faculty of Geography and History paid homage to Jordi Casassas, professor of Contemporary History at the UB. Attendants in the ceremony were Ricardo Piqueras, dean of the Faculty of Geography and History, Carles Santacana, director of the Department of History and Archaeology, Joseba Agirreazkuenaga (University of the Basque Country), Paul Aubert (Aix-Marseille University), Elena Hernández (Complutense University of Madrid), Patrizio Rigobon (CaʼFoscari University of Venice), and Sebastià Serra, from the University of the Balearic Islands.

Jordi Casassas developed his research in the fields of political, cultural and institution politics, as well as history of nationalism. Among other books, he has written La fàbrica de les idees. Política i cultura a la Catalunya del segle XX (Afers) and El temps de la nació. Estudis sobre el problema politic de les identitats (Proa). He has co-directed the Library of Catalan Nationalism Classics, and has been main advisor of the works Història política, societat i cultura dels Països Catalans and co-director of Diccionari dʼhistografia catalana. He received the Ramon Trias Fargas 2004 Award for his book El temps de la nació. Estudis sobre el problema politic de les identitats. He has been coordinator and co-author of LʼAteneu de Barcelona. Un segle i mig dʼacció cultural and Les identitats a la Catalunya contemporània. He is also co-author of the books La Universitat de Barcelona. Història dels ensenyaments (1450-2010) and La Universitat de Barcelona. Libertas perfundet Omnia luce (1450), both by Editions and Publications of the UB. At the moment, Jordi Casassas presides Ateneu Barcelonès.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Geography and History, the Section of Contemporary History and Todayʼs World (Department of History and Archaeology), and the masterʼs degree on Contemporary History and Todayʼs World (UB-UOC).
