The research group Classical Antiquity Studies on Provincial Interdependence Centre (CEIPAC) of the UB is pioneer in the incorporation of latest progresses in database and information management on historical research. The European project EPNet is coordinated in this group. EPNet allowed reconstructing the trade networks of the Ancient Roman Empire thanks to the work carried out by historians, mathematicians, computer scientists and physicists who are experts on complex networks. Now, CEIPAC steps forward in the application of new information technologies on historical research and joins the project ARIADNEplus, in which about forty academic entities from around the world take part, and it consists on integrating two million datasets covering all periods of the history of humanity.

The project ARIADNEplus is the extension of the project ARIADNE Integrating Activity, which integrated archaeological data infrastructures in Europe in the ARIADNE portal. ARIADNEplus will build on the research community of the project and will develop relationships with stakeholders and associations of archaeologists, researchers, heritage professionals, national heritage agencies and so on. This partnership includes several fields of archaeology such as palaeoanthropology, bioarchaeology and environmental archaeology as well as other sectors of archaeological sciences. Transnational activities together with the planned training will further reinforce the presence of ARIADNEplus as a key actor. The project started in January 2019 and will run for four years.
