The #metoo movement, fact-checking concepts, the migratory crisis in the Mediterranean and current policies (ranging from Brexit to Bolsonaro) are only some of the topics to be treated in the 23rd edition of the summer courses of the University of Barcelona, to be held from July 1 to 19, in morning and afternoon shifts. The program for Els Juliols 2019 offers more than eighty courses, and just like its last edition, there are twenty courses specially aimed at professional audiences and which are shorter: 16, 12 and 8 hours. The registration is already open and the 20-hour courses offer a reduced price in those registrations before June 5.

More than eighty courses on very different themes
The offering is structured into ten theme areas ranging from Art, music and cinema to Technology and energy, going through Economy and Business and social sciences; Phylosophy, language and literature; Natural sciences and environment, and Social mobilization and education, among others. Like in other editions, this yearʼs program offers new courses on current issues. This is the case, for example, of #meToo: de movement inèdit a desenes de denuncies compartides; Polítiques del desconcert: del Brexit a Bolsonaro; Networking i pull marketing: lʼorganització dʼesdeveniments com a negoci; Passem pàgina: fer feminisme(s) avui, and Joan Brossa, les diferents cares de la piràmide.

Most of the courses in Els Juliols take place in the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona. There are others that will take place in Alella, Cornellà de Llobregat, Esplugues, LʼHospitalet, Terrassa, Sant Joan Despí, Vilafranca del Penedès, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Viladecans.

Reduced fees for the first ones to register
Registration is open, and the 20-hour courses offer a reduced fee in the registrations that are completed before June 5. Also, the UB group and other groups (such as La Vanguardia subscribers and users of the Libraries of Diputació de Barcelona and Barcelona Libraries with a card), will have a special discount on any of the courses and until the end of the registration period. Students, moreover, can validate two academic credits for each 20-hour course they take.

Financial aids
The University of Barcelona presented a call for thirty financial aids to take up a 20-hour course in Els Juliols 2019, thanks to the collaboration of the company ACCIONA. These aids are aimed at students of master, bachelor or doctoral degrees enrolled in the University of Barcelona during the academic year 2018/2019, and account for a reduction of 74.50 euros of the registration fee. To apply for such discount, they have to follow the steps stated here. Required documentation has to be handed in any general registry office of the UB, until June 3. Once the results are published, applicants will receive the results via a text message.

Registration process
Registration for Els Juliols can be done until the first day of the chosen course (although those who apply for a financial aid have to do so before June 3). It can be done online through the website or in person, in the head offices of the Area of Further Learning of the UB: Jeroni Granell building (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 582). Personal and phone information and support hours are from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The website for Els Juliols offers the program for all the courses as well as information on the registration and academic recognition of each activity.
