The UB in the fourth anniversary of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Developmentʼs approval
Coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the approval of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the University of Barcelona aims to reinforce its commitment to incorporate, in all fields, the perspective of the seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) the Agenda gathers.
Coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the approval of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the University of Barcelona aims to reinforce its commitment to incorporate, in all fields, the perspective of the seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) the Agenda gathers.
Universities, aware of their determining role in society as trainers of future citizens and generators of knowledge, take their central role in the progression of the SDGs. In this sense, the UB declares the academic year 2019/2020 a key course to transform our institution and contribute to change and improve the world.
The UB created a sustainable development commission as a first action to promote and coordinate all the initiatives that will be carried out at the University, and is reinforcing alliances with other actions to fulfil the SDGs.
Also, the SDGs perspective will be incorporated to the UB bachelor and master degrees, and the university will strengthen and give more visibility to the research that contributes to improve its development. There will be workshops, conferences and meetings to disseminate information on the SDGs among the university community and society in general.
In short, the UB is promoting a series of actions to become a fair, egalitarian, healthful, more sustainable with the environment and more committed to society -university. All these actions aim to raise awareness on the importance of the SDGs and contribute to fulfil them so as to build a fair and sustainable world.
