More than three-hundred pre-school students from five different schools, aged between 3 and 6, are taking part in the experimental implementation phase of all@once project, led by the Institute for Lifelong Learning Foundation of the UB and funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health) of the European Commission.

The project works on -in an innovative way- training materials aimed at pre-school education teachers to create healthy habits in students, which range from eating habits to hygiene, through the development of self-awareness and respect for diversity (cultural, religious, gender, etc.), and the promotion of physical activity and sports. The strategical objective of this project is to have an impact on children’s habits (including emotional health, social health and physical and mental health) and create empowering and healthy citizens, and prevent the development of chronic diseases in the long run.

The most innovative feature of this project and which makes it a pioneer project is its co-creation methodology, which takes into account the real needs of children, detected by families, professionals of education and health professionals. With this methodology, all@once involves teachers, parents, and health staff to study these needs and apply actions to correct them in children’s education.

This implementation phase in schools –led by the lecturer of the Faculty of Education of the UB, Verònica Violant, and the lecturer form the Faculty of Medicine, Manuel J Rodríguez- has to enable the evaluation of the results, make the necessary adjustments in materials and analyse the viability of applying such a project at a larger scale.

A multidisciplinary team

All@once is coordinated by the team of María Carol, head of the International Area in the Institute for Lifelong Learning Foundation – IL3, and counts on the participation of the lecturers Manuel J Rodríguez, from the Department of Biomedicine of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Verònica Violant and José Luís Medina, from the Department of Teaching and Learning and Educational Organization of the Faculty of Education. Moreover, there are other international academic institutions taking part in all@once: Maastricht University, University of Copenhagen and the Université Grenoble Alpes. Last, other partners of the project are the Consortium of Education of Barcelona, the Public Health Agency and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
