The distinguished chef Ferran ADrià, inaugurated, yesterday, the academic year 2019/2020 in CETT-UB telling the students to go after quality and show an innovative attitude. Ferran Adrià, who collaborated with CETT-UB, highlighted the importance of this opportunity to learn and gain multidisciplinary competences to manage the companies of this sector. The chef highlighted the importance of making society and administrations understand that “our sector is one of the most important economic engines”. Ferran Adrià also announced he will start a new period in Bulli Foundation, in which CETT will be involved.

Adrià inaugurated the 50th academic year of CETT, which, like its president, Miquel Alsius, remembered, has been changing over the years without losing the values and essence of the center since its birth, in 1969, by the businessman Gaspar Espuña i Berga. “Talent, digital knowledge and innovation”, this is, according to Alsius, the strategic position of CETT.

Maria Abellanet, CEO of CETT, encouraged the students to take all the opportunities, resources, company of the experts and professionals and the knowledge offered at the center. “CETT opens the door to personal, academic and professional transformation. Use it”, said Abellanet.

The opening ceremony of the academic year, held at Hotel Alimara Barcelona and chaired by RAC1 journalist Maria Xinxó, counted on the attendance of José Antonio Pérez-Aranda, director of CETT-UB, and Nan Ferreres, director of the professional technical school and university studies in Gastronomy. Both highlighted the essential role of the sector in contributing to a better society and reminded the attendants that, regarding the exponential growth of activities like tourism and gastronomy at a global scale, it is necessary for the people to lead, work and create knowledge on these sectors and be committed to the sustainable development and responsibility with the environment, culture and territory.

Albert Cirera, vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation of the UB, to which CETT is affiliated since 2014, and Joaquim Ferrer, secretary for Business and Competitiveness at the Catalan Government, attended the event, highlighting “the successful formula of CETT” and its career, linked to the expertise field in this sector.

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of CETT, Victor Liseca, lecturer of Gastronomy in the center, designed the cocktail “Green Experience” for this occasion, inspired by the feelings and experiences created by CETT and which has the colors of the new brand and graphic identity of the school.
