The Centre for International Historical Studies (CEHI) commemorates the 70th anniversary with academic sessions

CEHI) of the UB wants to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its creation.
CEHI is a cultural model in the study of the Second Republic, the Civil War, Franco Regime and transition to democracy, and has become an important research school for many researchers. Founded by Jaume Vicens Vives, during these decades the centre has been expanding its field of study to the area of the Mediterranean, with a historical perspective when analyzing conflicts. Moreover, it has been the star of many research initiatives, international collaborations and projects of knowledge transfer.
“The date of 20-N is associated with the death of Franco (we could also relate it to the death of Buenaventura Durruti and the birth of Josep Fontana), but we relate it to the foundation of CEHI, one of the oldest and persistent institutions of the UB”, say the organizers of the sessions to talk about the creation of this research center in November 1949.
During these two days, the sessions will go through the most relevant research studies that were promoted by CEHI and its teams over the years, from graves in the Spanish postwar to the opposition to the Franco regime and the memory of transition, among other topics. As part of the sessions, there will be an exhibition on the 70 years of CEHI in the Geography and History CRAI Library.
