The StartUB! Sprint Awards to support entrepreneurship were given today. These awards aim to promote innovation and support entrepreneur ideas among the students of the University of Barcelona. The awards honor quality projects with a positive impact on society.

The StartUB! Sprint Awards to support entrepreneurship were given today. These awards aim to promote innovation and support entrepreneur ideas among the students of the University of Barcelona. The awards honor quality projects with a positive impact on society.

The president of the Board of Trustees of the UB, Joan Corominas; the vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation, Albert Cirera, and the director of StartUB!, Claudio Cruz, took part in the event.

The first award, accounting for 3,000 euros, was given to the project Luci, a platform using a voice user interface to detect early dementia, while it makes a continuous monitoring of the user and it propitiates cognitive stimulation. The second award, accounting for 1,000 euros, was given to Guidetrack, an app that allows museum visitors to listen explanations of the main exhibited art works for free. Last, there was a special mention for the startup Benesit, which is working on a device to correct our posture when sitting.

The awardees will assign the received amounts of money to work on their business projects. This edition of the StartUB! Sprint Awards received a total of 28 submitted projects. Participants can be students of bachelor, master, doctoral and postgraduate studies from the academic year 2019/2020 and former students from the last two academic years.
