The UB, among the world universities with the top social impact, according to THE Impact Rankings 2020
The UB holds a position among the top 100 universities worldwide in the new ranking published by the journal The Times Higher Education: THE Impact Rankings 2020, which lists the impact of universities regarding the fulfilment of the UN sustainable developmental goals (SDG). In particular, the UB holds the 91st position among the 766 institutions listed in the ranking. The University of Barcelona holds a good position in the SDG in Quality education, in which it holds the 14th position among the 676 universities and has a score of 82.8 out of 100.

The University of Barcelona holds a good position in the SDG in Quality education, in which it holds the 14th position among the 676 universities and has a score of 82.8 out of 100.
The ranking is made using data provided by each university regarding the impact of the institution in some of the seventeen UN SDG. Apart from the field in Quality education (which measures the inclusive and fair character with sustainable systems), the University of Barcelona provided data to be assessed in the impacts on Good health and wellbeing (where it obtains the 53rd position among 620 institutions and a score of 79.5); Sustainable cities and communities (87th position among 470, score of 73.3); Peace, justice and strong institutions (in this category it holds a position in the 101-200 range of universities, a total of 453 institutions, with a score of 71.3) and Partnership for the Goals (43rd position among 806 institutions and a score of 87.2). To enter the global assessment of this ranking, universities have to be assessed at least in four SGDs, and one of them has to be related to partnership creation.
The UB has obtained great results so far regarding the rankings measuring research results, this second edition of THE Impact Rankings positions the University of Barcelona among the top universities regarding social impact. The creators of the new ranking say this recognizes “a great task the universities carry out and sometimes is not recognized”.
