The University of Barcelona leads the last edition of the Round University Ranking (RUR) in Spain, holding the 132nd position among 1,100 universities worldwide. With this list, it climbs up to 31 positions compared to last year.

The University of Barcelona leads the last edition of the Round University Ranking (RUR) in Spain, holding the 132nd position among 1,100 universities worldwide. With this list, it climbs up to 31 positions compared to last year.

The Round University Ranking uses twenty indicators corresponding to four areas: teaching, where the UB holds the 152nd position, research (96); international diversity (238) and financial sustainability (495). The University of Barcelona is positively distinguished in scientific performance, especially regarding the relation between the amount of science publications and research income, an indicator in which the UB holds the 68th position worldwide.

Other Spanish universities following the UB appear in the ranking: the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Madrid, Pompeu Fabra University and University of Navarra. The first position in RUR is held by Harvard University, followed by the California Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

First position in Spain in SCImago Institutional Rankings

The UB also holds the first position as a Spanish university among the higher education institutions in the SCImago Institutional Rankings, in which it holds the 119th position worldwide. Harvard University is the leader of the ranking, combining indicators related to research, innovation and social impact of the institution. Among the Spanish universities, the UB is followed by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of Valencia.
