DTI Foundation creates the open access database IDOTCOVID on organ donation and transplantation and SARS-CoV-2
Providing clinical evidence to the scientific community in order to establish protocols on the treatment and management of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 is the aim of the international open-access database on organ donation and transplantation-COVID-19 (IDOTCOVID), an initiative launched by the DTI Foundation -based in the Barcelona Science Park-, led by Martí Manyalich, lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UB.

This new biomedical tool, which has the IRODaT registry and LIDOBS observatory endorsement, counts on the collaboration of the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) and the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
In the new situation resulting from the COVID-19, the recipients of solid organ transplantation (SOT) become a high risk population regarding the exposure to the disease and the seriousness of the infection due to their chronic immunosuppression situation.
In this context, the DTI Foundation (Donation & Transplantation Institute), launched IDOTCOVID, an open-acess database to allow doctors from the field of transplantation to access a wide database and compare the results through different strategies. IDOTCOVID is available in real time for all collaborating centers worldwide in order to provide a global perspective on the influence of COVID-19 in the donation activity and the results of organ transplantation.
