Second edition of Clara Campoamor and Rosalind Franklin prizes to the top bachelor and masterʼs degree final project with gender perspective
Clara Campoamor, known politician and activist for womenʼs rights in the 20th century thirties, and Rosalind Franklin, head figure in the discovery of the DNA structure and unfairly left out by the scientific community for decades, name the prizes to the top bachelor and master degree projects with gender perspective of the UB, which this year reach their second edition. Promoted by the Equality Unit and funded by the Vice-Rectorʼs Office of Equal Opportunities and Social Action, the aim of these awards is to promote the integration of gender perspective in research and teaching and to make visible the studentsʼ research on questions related to gender. Participants can be students who enrolled in official bachelor and masterʼs degrees and who presented their projects at the UB during the academic year 2019/2020, as long as this has a minimum mark of 8. The dateline to submit the applications is September 30, for the bachelorʼs degree final projects and October 15 for masterʼs degree final projects.

The projects can be individual or in group and have to be gender-themed or have to include genderʼs perspective, as an approach to the reality from a critical perspective considering sexual differences and sexualities, studies on the effects of gender inequality on the production and dissemination of knowledge, a basic research on theories and methodologies of feminist theories and gender studies, or the application of theoretical and methodological bases with gender perspective to the research on social and other problems.
The award to the top masterʼs degree final project accounts for 900 euros, and the one to the top bachelorʼs degree final project accounts for 800 euros. Regarding the bachelorʼs degree final projects, there will also be three second prizes of 200 euros, each for every different knowledge branch from the winner. These branches of knowledge are: Experimental Sciences and Engineering; Health Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Social and Legal Sciences.
The decision will be taken by an interdisciplinary jury formed by the director of the Equality Unit, Pilar Rivas, and experts on gender from all the faculties that teach disciplines the projects talk about, and will be presided over by the vice-rector for Equal Opportunities and Social Action, Maite Vilalta. To select the awardees, the jury will consider criteria such as the relevance of the topic and originality in its development, theoretic frame, coherence and methodological rigour, and the results, conclusions and the advances it brings to its field. Projects using sexist or androcentric language will be excluded.
Presentation
Students who wish to participate to win the prize to the top TFG and TFM with gender perspective have to fill a registration form which is available in the website of the Equality Unit, where they will also submit their projects. To guarantee anonymity, it is important to present the project without any personal data that may identify its author or tutor. the project -which can be in Catalan, Spanish, English or any other applicable language to Philology studies-, has to be submitted in PDF format, with a summary of its content (about five hundred words) and a copy of the academic records so as to prove the obtained qualification in the corresponding assessment.
The names of the awarded projects for Clara Campoamor Prize to the best bachelorʼs degree final project will be published in the website in November, and the award ceremony will take place on the occasion of the commemorative acts for 25-N. As for Rosalind Franklin Prize to the top masterʼs degree final project, the publication of the awarded project will take place in January and its ceremony will take place in March, on the occasion of the commemorative acts on 8-M.
