The organizers of the award highlighted that Sabatéʼs proposal presents an accurate alloy between fiction and real characters, and it treats themes such as Spiritism, Masonry and feminism. Also, they highlighted the role of the woman, a relevant element in the current context. El vel de la deessa is the second novel by Sabaté, who also published La filla de Lilith (Ediciones B, 2016).

A novel on Freemasonry, Spiritism and Feminism

A group of free masons, led by Ángeles López de Ayala, under the shelter of the Feminist Progressive Society, cling to education as the way to fight the social role they have to play for being women. The discovery of a special library will have them looking for a hidden relic able to give them the strength they need to reach freedom. They will be accompanied by the bibliophile Gaspar Homar and a student of the University of Barcelona, avid reader and enthusiast of ancient and medieval myths.
