The University of Barcelona will allocate 1.8 million euros to purchase laptops to cover the needs of the TRS and AdSS members. This action should serve to purchase more than 1,600 computers in order to favour the non-face-to-face while it would renew the existing computers at the same time. With this multi-use hardware, the UB aims to improve the work conditions and adapt to the needs for the academic year 2020/2021, specially given the uncertainty in the health situation.

The distribution of the equipment among the collectives will be carried out according to its weight in the institution. Therefore, a million euros will be allocated to the TRS and 800,000 euros to the AdSS. Regarding the TRS, the funding is liked to what every faculty represents in the financial model of the centers. All departments should prioritize the delivery of laptops to the staff that has to work from home. Regarding AdSS, 40% of the resources will be allocated to the center administrations (depending on what they represent in the financial model of administration) and 60% to the units and services depending on their needs, assessed by a committee. Apart from the 1,8 million given by the program, this will enable centers and units to provide their own resources to cover their needs.

The ICT area in the General Managerʼs Office will be in charge of the purchase and the centers will directly receive the equipment. A single homologated computer will be acquired within the framework agreement the UB signed with the Catalan Consortium of University Services (CSUCA): a professional team fulfilling the functional and technical requirements of the UB, and which allows working face-to-face and online (able to connect the cable network and to use existing computers). All laptops must be inventoried, and the institution will ask for a good use of the equipment, only for work purposes.

The call for this aid has been published in the electronic office and will be sent to all centers, administrations and general services, so they can apply.
