The Choir of the University of Barcelona, founded in 1989, starts a new chapter. Cornelia Rupert, director of the Choir of Austria and piano instructor, who is coursing direction studies at ESMUC, will be the director of the new Choir UB and will select its members through an audition call in September.

Regarding the selection of the new voices in the choir, the director says in a vídeo “the UB community has to be important regarding the composition of its members, but auditions are also open to interpreters from other music schools and higher education centers of the country, as well as people who show their talent”. Rupert adds that the new choir aims to “sing, but also transmit emotions and give expression to the texts”. The repertoire will be based in great works for choirs and orchestra, and will include a capella themes, with a selection of works from worldwide and different time periods.

In early September, the call for the auditions will be published with the requirements for the access casting to sing in the choir. The auditions will take place in late September in order to start working as a choir in October.
