Yesterday, October 8, the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona, gathered in extraordinary session, approved the call for the election of the Rectorʼs Office of the University of Barcelona and the electoral agenda. The day for the first round of voting is Thursday, November 26. From November 12 to 25, until 3 p.m., people can vote in advance.

Yesterday, October 8, the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona, gathered in extraordinary session, approved the call for the election of the Rectorʼs Office of the University of Barcelona and the electoral agenda. The day for the first round of voting is Thursday, November 26. From November 12 to 25, until 3 p.m., people can vote in advance.

If none of the candidates obtains absolute majority, the second round will take place on December 3. The day before, December 2, until 3 p.m., people can vote in advance. In the second round, only the two most voted candidates would compete.

The election, according to the Organic law of universities and the Statute of the University of Barcelona, will take place through direct election and direct, secret and universal ballot, maintaining all COVID-19 prevention health measures.

According to the approved electoral calendar, the electoral roll (in which you need to be registered in order to vote) will be published on October 13. From October 28 to November 6 people can submit their candidacies. Candidates will be proclaimed by the Election Board on Monday, November 9 and the electoral campaign will take place from November 12 to 25.

More than 52,000 people will have the right to vote. There are four elector collectives in the Rectorʼs Office elections. Their vote has a different value: permanent doctoral teaching staff (the vote of this collective accounts for a 51%); other teaching and research staff (vote equivalent to 9% of the total); students of first and second cycle and doctoral studies (30%), and administrative and service staff (10%).
