The second prize (1,000 euros), was given to a biotechnology project: BloomUp. This would be a technological company that would cultivate with vertical farming and aeroponics (plant growing process in an air or mist environment without using soil or aggregate medium). The business model revolves around the data management and optimisation of the plant growing process. A special mention was awarded to the project Parenting, an online platform offering food distribution services and psychoeducational content.

The president of the Board of Trustsees of the UB, Joan Corominas; the vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation, Albert Cirera, and the director of StartUB!, Claudio Cruz, took part in the ceremony. The event, held online, included the conference “Humor a lʼhora dʼemprendre”, given by Sergio Piñar, adjunct lecturer at the Department of Public, Mental and Perinatal Health Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The StartUB! Sprint Awards aim to promote innovation and support entrepreneur ideas among the students of the University of Barcelona. These awards honor quality projects with a positive impact on society.
