Parolu, an app for families to contribute to improve the affective-sexual education through interactive stories received the first prize of Innovation Day (i-Day) at the UB. This activity promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of health. More than 130 students and 24 international facilitators took part in i-Day, organized by EIT Health, the most important European body regarding innovation on healthy life and active ageing.

The awarded project, Parolu, responds to the challenge on sexual education, while the second prize was given to a proposal to solve the challenge of social network and online game addictions. In particular, the winner was Oasis, a device that records the amount of time a phone is inactive and allows the user to get rewards whenever this pause period is longer. The third prize was given to a project that responds to the challenges of the consequences of lockdown. It was given to Healthcom, an app designed to provide tools for non-professional caregivers who, due to the lockdown, had to take care of patients or family members with neurodegenerative diseases.

The awarded projects received 400 euros for the first prize, plus the chance to attend the i-Day Winner Event and access to the StartUB! Sprint program (StartUB! Acceleration program), and 200 euros for the second and third prizes, plus access to the Busines Model Lab course, from StartUB!. The three prizes also included tickets to the spa The Ancient Thermal Bath. Also, there was an award from the audience which consists on a tasting menu at the restaurant Teresa Carles and access to the course Business Model Lab (StartUB!). More than 9,000 people voted to give this award.

This yearʼs edition of i-Day was carried out online due to the pandemic. A platform based on an online escape game designed in the StartUB! Program was used. Several European institutions which hold their i-Days as well, were interested in this platform, which served as a vehicle to solve several challenges related to the field of health. Therefore, it will be used in fourteen different i-Days in Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Greece, Poland and Austria. EIT Health holds up to thirty-three i-Days in different European cities. The only one in Catalonia is organized by the UB in collaboration with IESE, lʼIBEC, ISGlobal, Hospital Clínic, IRB Barcelona and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu.
