Today, Wednesday, November 11, the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona, held a meeting in an extraordinary session, in which it has approved modifying the regulations so that the next election to the Rector's Office can be held by electronic voting, given the current health situation derived from COVID-19. A postponement of the electoral calendar has also been approved: the first round will take place from Thursday, December 10 at 10 a.m. to Friday, December 11 at 8 p.m.

The second round, if necessary, will take place from Thursday, December 17 at 10 a.m. to Friday, December 18 at 8 p.m. The electoral campaign will begin on November 24 and will last until December 9. This postponement of the electoral calendar is due to organizational and technical needs to convert face-to-face elections into electronic ones.

When approving these changes, the Governing Council has taken into account the latest guidelines approved by both the central Government and the Catalan Government for the containment of the pandemic, after the call for elections to the UB approved on last October 8, as well as the recommendations given by the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia and the Permanent Electoral Board.

Among other approved issues in todayʼs meeting, the Governing Council approved several calls for teaching positions, the public offer for TRS in 2020, and Predocs UB, and the qualification of Health Institution associated with the UB from the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO Hospitalet) and Hospital de Barcelona (SCIAS).
