The Centre de Disseny i Optimització de Processos i Materials (design and optimization for processes and materials center, DIOPMA) and the Research Group on Environmental Biotechnology, both from the University of Barcelona, take part in a new project to design and develop a technological solution to recover efficiently and cost-friendly the phosphorus in urban wastewaters. With such innovative technology, the aim is to contribute to the removal of an important source of pollution of aquifers and promote circular economy, using -during the process- an abundant industrial subproduct in Spain. The project, named MAGNYFOS, has a total budget of nearly 697,000 euros, and is part of the Collaboration Challenges call from the Ministry of Science and Innovation, whose aim is to fund cooperation projects between companies and research bodies.
